Happy Summer Days

This weekend is such a beautiful weekend. So many happy things going on...parties, graduations, and of course amazing weather to accompany all that is happening! It is a busy weekend but when it's great things going on I don't mind a bit! I am so looking forward to visiting with friends and family this weekend and spending some much needed time with those I have not seen in a while!

Thankful for this day...3 Things

A simple list of 3 things that I am grateful for today...

1.) Getting unexpected good news at work today!

2.) Soft ice cream

3.) My washing machine. Really. How lucky am I to be able to have clean clothes and bedding with the touch of a button. Not everyone has this, and the fact that I have one, I am truly grateful.

My Own Mind

"My beauty comes from having my own style, living my own way and knowing my own mind"~Lee Damsky
I stumbled across this quote awhile back and it really resonated with me. I have found that within the past few years I have definitly become more aware of who I am as a person, what I believe, what I want out of life, my spirituality has grown...not sure if this has just come across with age, or with my scrapbooking. Whatever the case, I am so proud that I don't feel pressured to be like anyone else or try and feel like I have to have what everyone else does. If things come to me, or happen, they will. I feel no need to try and please those around me or put on a false front in front of others. I am just me, and have learned who I am and what I want through both good times and bumps in the road. I am proud of the risks I have taken and am so comforted in being so at ease with who I am and what I want as a person. I am just happy to be me!

Exercise

"People who exercise, whether that involves an intense workout or just a regular long walk, feel healthier, feel better about themselves, and enjoy life more"-David Niven, Ph. D "100 Simple Secrets of Happy People"
One of my biggest accomplishments since this spring has been keeping up with a regular fitness routine...and sticking with it. Commitment is something that I struggle with, and when it comes to exercising it is even worse!! Talk about such a mental game. I came across this phrase in a book entitled "100 Simple Secrets of Happy People" and it really is true. I totally feel that I am healthier, have more energy and it does perk up my mood no question! This time, I do not have any unrealistic goals and expectations when it comes to fitness and working out. I basically view it as my time to sweat, think, crank up the tunes and just enjoy an hour for me! Anything above and beyond this is just an added bonus!

Simplicity

Stumbled across this VERY cool phrase today. Gives a person something to think about.
Relish the calm
Create miracles
Nurture your dreams
Savor Simplicity
Invite adventure
Nourish your spirit.
So cool.......:)

Times with Mom

I am so pooped! Between yesterday and today...the weekend has flown by, tomorrow is Monday and it's like "where did the weekend go?" I did a wedding photo shoot on Saturday, which went very well but is also mentally draining. As much as I enjoy myself and the overall process, it can still be very stressful when trying to get those "perfect shots" for the happy couple.
On another note, today was a very relaxing yet busy day. Mom and I headed to West Edmonton Mall for the day just to get a few wedding things that we were still needing to cross off our "to do" list. I was able to find a dress for my shower, jewelry for my bridesmaids...and of course a few other things that I just happened to need...yeah right. At least I stayed clear from the scrapbook store...now THAT is self control my friends! My mom was able to find shoes to match her dress and also find a shirt for my dad. Overall it was a great day. It is nice to just shop and spend time together relaxing and not feeling rushed at all. It is so nice to have a mom who has the greatest patience level I have ever known. I then treated her to lunch at Moxie's which alone is such a treat!! Thanks mom for a wonderful Sunday! Love you! XOXO

Gratitude

Lately I have been really trying to be conscious of all that is around me and to simply just be "grateful". Here is my list of 3 things that I am grateful for today.

1. All the amazing friends that Matthew and I are blessed to have in our lives.

2. Our puppy Hurley. She always manages to brighten our day....no matter what.

3. Sunshine

MY FIRST POST!

So here we go...I have always loved coming across and reading other people's blogs, so I figured why not start one myself. We will see how this goes!! This is just a random picture of my home here in the summertime I took back early this June. I just love how beautiful our yard is, with all of the trees and our flowers. Matthew works very hard to make our yard a special spot for us all to enjoy.
